How far can a magnetic field be taken

By this I mean, how much further in time can you age a magnet and still get a usable pickup?

Mr. Duncan has stated that he can Degauss or manipulate the magnetic field in a magnet to simulate wear after a certain amount of years and this is after all what an Antiquity is about right?

Anyone curious to see how a Seth Lover would sound after, say, 70 years? How far back can you take this while still being useful?

From mr. Bill :)

Since the ‘50's, we use Alnico 5 magnets which lose, under normal conditions, less then half a percent per 100 years.

... but I'm no techhead so I can't say how accurate that is.

Re: How far can a magnetic field be taken

its very true that a5 magnets (most stable alnico as far as i know) lose 0.5% of their magnetism over 100 years or something like that, unless they are acted on by an outside force. another magnet, physical shock etc...

you can get a magnet pretty damn weak and itll sound cool, but it also wont hold that level for long and will lose it and need to be recharged

... and with that said ... If it's indeed true that the A5's changes next to nothing
when aged, does it really have that big of an effect of the pickup?
