How good is the JB when split?

I've got a couple of Antiquity single coils in the middle and neck position of my strat. If I split the JB, is it going to sound crappy in comparison? Also, what part of the pickup is used in single coil mode ... the screws or slugs?

I'm really hoping it produces a good single coil sound, otherwise I'm not going to bother.

The JB has the best coil split tones of any humbucker I've ever used. The Parallel tone is cool too! Do it. Lew

Got another problem now ... I'm looking at the duncan schematics and I don't see a diagram for a H/S/S with a split.

Nothing to it...just attach the red and white wires from your JB to a switch that connects them to ground when you flick the switch. Connected to ground, the JB will be split. You could replace one of your tone pots with a push/pull pot. Lew

ya its a really really good split tone, my favorite split hummy by far...

Yes, very good tone. For me the best tones come from the screw coil when spliting a humbucker. This one it is the most powerfull so the lost of volume going from series to parallel will be less noticiable.

I had tried the JB split in the bridge and in the neck and both tones were very good. The only problem with JB in the bridge it is that the screw coil could be very trebly.
