Never tried it so I can only theorize...but since both pickups are on the bright side, I would think combining them with the warmth of mahogany should be a good recipe for a balanced tone.

Awesome combo!!! I have this combo in 2 of my LP's. It will work very well with the mahogany body. I've tried a Jazz neck,(and it is EXACTLY as its described), but found it didn't do as well as a 59' under high gain situatuions.

That's the combo I put in my brother's Epi Les Paul. Great tone! Not to bright at all...very strong solid bass too. Very lively tone and a great tone for rockin out. Great split tones too...maybe the best set for splitting into single coil tones that I've used.

I have that combo in my mahogany guitar pictured to the left. NICE COMBO.

Great sounding! I have this combo on one of my guitars. It has a 25.5 scale, ebony board, mahogany and no maple cap. The mahogany helps a lot to give warm to the tone. The 59 it's a bassy pup with lots of highs that come out when you split or overdrive. The Jb it's famous for getting that 80 hair metal tone. But on my guitar the upper mids are reduced and the low midds and bottom end are enhaced, the overal tone it's wider and warmer. On overdrive cuts throught the mix but the tone it's less sharp than on strat type of guitars, which I love
. Split it's great too, very straty.
The only downside it's that JB cleans aren't over the top and there isn't that touch sensitivity you have wiht lower output pups. But you can get pretty decent ones.

The combo lasted a whole three days before I hauled them out and put the stock pickups back in.
To my ears they were way too high-endy and way too high output. I play Blues and classic rock so it's not like I was trying to do something that it wasn't intended for.

The pickups went into a Greco Les Paul Custom clone. It has a maple top to it and rosewood fretboard.
I wouldn't call it overly bright to begin with but I think it's a pretty even sounding instrument overall. I found the stock pickups to be a little more "vintage" sounding, which is the tone I'm going for.
