How many wirings possible for an ax with a single Humbucker?

How many options do you think are possible when you use as many pots, switches, etc etc, as you can fit in a single guitar?

First make a guess and post it on this thread, then be surprised. I thought there were only 6 wiring possibilities and then maybe a Varitone and a booster. I was waaay of.

I would guess there would be even more possibilities than what's listed on that site.

Sure! But 104 different wirings is a lot more than 8 or 9!

I think that is bogus...

I'm calling six different real ones.

Tapped - coil/slug = 2
Series - in/out of phase = 2
Parallel - in/out of phase = 2

I am not going to even entertain a tap of 90% + full other coil, or starting with + wire vs - wire on a single or any other technical bs.

Six is my answer.

IMO, the better question is, "how many of them are worth doing?"

At most for an Hxx guitar I can see doing a series/parallel and/or coil split.
Phase is pointless.

If I'm building a guitar with a single humbucker in the bridge position, I'm not trying to make it as versatile as possible.
In fact, quite the opposite.

Anyway, after that it's just a matter of what kind of tone setup you want.
You can go with an "afterburner" style switch to remove the pots entirely from the signal and then maybe, if you were feeling adventurous, a TBX style tone setup... similar to what he calls "the Peavey Tone".

But really, I'd probably just not bother with a tone pot at all.
Hxx is all about simplicity as far as I'm concerned.
Why spoil it?
