Standard size of what...are you talking about a small head and a 1x12 box or a big head and a Marshall 8x10 cab? Also, do you want to buy the tolex and DIY or do you want to have somebody do it?

Vinyl is sold in yards, each yard is 36" long by 54" wide. You'll need four yards to go around your 4x12 cabinet, but since it's less than 2 ft. deep, the extra will probably cover the head. If you want to recover the back panel of the cab, that's another yard.
Vinyl can range from about $8 a yard to $30, depending on how fancy it is. I covered my DIY amp with vinyl I bought from yourautotrim.com, because I wanted something different from the usual amp Tolex.
On top af that, you'll need a couple quarts of contact cement. If you hire someone to do the work, figure on 8 hours, but I'm not going to guess the rate.
Tolexing cabs id not really difficult, if you'd care to try it yourself. Google "Casey4s Tolex", and you'll probably find a tutorial that really helped me.

I have to recover a JCM 800 head soon... I bought it for cheap and the vinyl and corners were taken off the amp so someone could add army camo cloth for that metal look... crazy! I'm not going to pay someone to recover it so i am going to have to learn how myself..... I have enough Marshall covering to do a 4x12 so i should be set..... and if i screw up i'm not worried as it can't be anyworse then a plain plywood cab.... the vinyl i scored for $35canadian from a store that was moving and just wanted rid of junk laying around....

He re-covered Jeff H.'s combo & 4x12 & if I recall correctly, it wasn't a whole lotta dough.
But he lives nearby & was able to drop it off/pick it up.
Maybe check at a local store to see if there is someone they could recommend.
