How much is the JB Jr like the JB Model?

I've got a JB Jr. in my Strat. It's not a bad pickup at all or anything like that but I was just wondering out of curiosity how close it actually was to the full sized JB Model. What are the similarities or differences?

They sound nothing alike. The only thing in common is the name.

I find this to be true too. It just takes what the JB has and tries to put in a tiny package.

you get a warmer and louder pickup strat sized based that just screams its way through leads and has a nice low end chug. the high mids are very much in your face like the real JB.

But side by side with a real JB they are both very different. But it does what the JB does and fits into a single coil route.

All the humless style singles will never give you a exact real single coil tone or real full size bucker tone. but they come close without you slicing up your strat.

I want to try the custom shop lil pearly gates. bet that would be awesome!

Thanks for reminding me! I completely forgot about the Lil Pearly Gates. Either that or the custom alnico single humbucker will be going into my SL1.

I agree too it is not the same, but not any better or worse either. I have one along with a lil 59 in my strat and I have a 59/jb set in another guitar as well. I have A-B ed them on same amp setting etc., and they sound completely different, but at the same time seem to fill the same needs as far as the tone goes. What I mean is that in the neck spot, the little 59 gives me full on bluesy tone just like my 59n , and when I select the bridge, the lil 59 gives nice sweet lead tones along the same lines just like my JB humbucker.

Besides being a full size humbucker vs single humbucker? First the JB jr has a ceramic mag and the JB has a5. The eq curve is different. The Jb jr favors a little more in the lower midrange. Output is a little lower of course. Just 2 different pickups man! Only the name in common.
