How not to treat your guitar: Play on a blues riff!

Hi

Just recorded this new tune. Made it up around a blues riff I heard (can be heard at the beginning of the video). Pretty rough recording but I think this tune could sound really good after some practise. I am very hard on the guitar with this tune to the extent some strings - upper e - have broken a few times. I have eased up on the bends a bit to get it down. Rough and ready with a fair bit of lower string slapping but then all I have is a dodgy mic to record stuff with and a cheap catalog guitar. With practise I should be able to get this tune real smooth. Still I think you young rockers might like this one:

Play on a blues riff

Real bashing :smokin: . Hope you like it.

My brain keeps hearing a liquid sounding, warbly Gilmour-esque solo over the top of that track....could be kinda nice. Anybody with me?

Like the sound of that :fingersx: . Will re-record the tune a few times with a different speed etc. Could be much better played slowly like a ballad. Will make the files available soon and you can mess with them all you want. Not been practising much lately as I have been messing with my site loads. Back hard it again now though. Will definitely need cleaner recordings though but I should be able to provide them after some hard practise.

Maybe just lighten up on the attack of the strings a bit when you're playing (lose the finger picks?) and I bet you'ld get rid of 90% of the string rattling . . . that's a decent sounding song, I'd really like to hear it when you get it all polished up.

I am trying to drop the picks - at least off my fingers. Tried the other day without the thumb pick and in about 15 min I had a big and very sore lump. Couldn't play for a few days after. In time I will get rid of the picks I think, or at least I am going to give it a damn good try. Very cheap guitar this with very high action and I found it impossible to play without picks at first though now I can handle it a lot better. Need to remember to stop biting my damn nails though. But it is far better to play without picks as you can feel the strings far more obviously and be far more accurate. Practise makes perfect - hopefully. Will still be able to play the tune quite well with picks soon though and without any string slapping. The string noise is just me being too forceful. I tend to be like that when trying a new tune. I have lots of new tunes I could post on here and will do so soon.
