How often do you change pickups?

Come on I know that there are those of you who are constantly experimenting like I do! So how often do you put a new set of pickups in your guitar? Or at least change magnets? Have you gone broke yet :laugh2:?

When I get a combo I really like is a specific guitar I tend to leave them...the exception to that is if I get ahold of a pickup I think might sound good ina specific guitar, then I might pull a swap, and it might stay and it might not!

Usually every several months I'll change one back to another pickup I have or a new one.

I never change pickups in a guitar more than once. I always do the research before I change.

I'm done...unless I get another guitar. Now I am a bit calm down... But I used to change pickups or wirings two or three times a month. Not even buying pickups but interchanging them between my guitars...

I tend to swap out pickups until that guitar sounds like I want it to sound. After that, it stays.

I might try different pups, but once I get a set I like, not much is going to make me swap them out. The one thing I do from time to time is switch the CRn with the VR (middle) in my strat clone. I don't always bother changing the 5 way either, which lets me run the VRn with the Screamin Demon (b).

I used to swap out pickups all the time back when I was a dimarzio fan. Now that i've got duncans loaded up in most of my guitars I havent swapped in a while. I've gone through quite a few different brands, though i'd still like to check out the bill lawrence pups. But 90% of my loyalty goes to duncan . Now if I could only get the other guitarist in my band off dimarzios...

:laugh2: I do. I need one more just to put those awesome sounding Duncan Stack Plus noiseless "prototype" Evan was kind enough to send me in. I had 'em in my '88 MIJ Strat but that's the one with the Surfers and CS Tapped Tele Hot and those aren't goin' anywhere.

I used to change pickups a lot searching for the sound i was hearing in my head but recently i sold everything and settled with the pickup that comes closer to what i want to hear from my guitars.................i do not intend to spend money again on pickups anytime soon.....

LOL! Me too!!!!!!!
I spend too much money for pickups and guitars, now i sold dozens of pickups and 8 guitars!, still wanna sell 3 guitars and keep 2.
I spend too much time the last 10 years!
I also wanna sell my beloved Stratocaster, because this guitar leads to try this and that pickup and pickup setup...

• I change my underwear frequently
• I change tubes regularly (my favorite tonal tweak)
• I change amps often (when tweaking tubes isn't enough)
• I change strings occasionally (good strings & a dry climate)
• I've swapped pickups in three guitars in the last 10 years

Between never and constantly...I have a Custom Jackosn that hasn´t been touched since I got her in ´97 (no need, everything´s still spot on), and I have other guitars that are on their 10th set or so
