How often to use lemon oil on rosewood board?

Right well since last time I've already solved the cloth problem, but this is a general maintenance question - how often should I be using the lemon oil?

Should I be using it every time I change strings?

Every few months? Once a year??? :laugh2:

I have no clue! Any info will be greatly appreciated

Rosewood should only be oiled twice a year or so.

I do it about 4-6 times a year, or every two months. Keep in mind, I live in the desert, so I do it more often because my stuff dries out pretty fast. I'm not usure on what the weather is like in Manchester (probably cold and wet ), but you could probably get away with using it 3-4 times a year.

I don;t use lemon oil, but to answer your question, rosewood doesn't need to be done as often as ebony, which dries out easier. I do the fretboards a couple of times a year. If you do a lt of playing out, you may have to clean them and oil them more often Try Dr. Duck's Axe Wax. It works really well and lasts long too.

I've owned one guitar w/ RW fingerboards for 18 years and another for 15 years, and I've never oiled the fingerboards on either of them with anything other than my own "finger oil". And the boards on both are in great shape.

I got lucky one time and found an entire liter of pure lemon oil at a .99 cent store.
I think that thing's gonna last me a lifetime. I live in the hottest city in the Los Angeles area, Chatsworth, so I use a sock to quickly wipe the fretboard with lemon oil about every other time I change strings. I don't let it soak into the wood for long, I just wipe it on and off. Drenching the fretboard in oil isn't bad if there's a lot of grime, but I wouldn't do it regularly, just so the oil doesn't permeate and weaken the fret glue. I've often wondered if lemon oil helps to keep fretware to a minimum?

Rosewood in naturally very oily, so depending on your local climate, you may never need to oil it, as opposed to ebony.
