how to begin w/ pics

I want to swap my bridge pup so I looked at the wiring diagrams... first it said that I should take off the strings and then the mounting rings, but my guitar has no mounting rings a you can see in the pics.
My guess is that I should remove the bridge to remove the pickup... is this a good idea? considering it will be my first "swapping operation"

Yes, the tele bridge is the "mounting ring" per say. You have to remove the bride to remove the pickup. You won't screw anything up.
