How to dull nickel covered duncan pups?

I've been wondering whether it's possible to dull the finish of nickel covered pups as the hardware on my SG has a faded nickel look, it'd be nice to get the pups to match.

Thanks for the replies, I assume SD covers are nickel plated rather than chromed?
