how to get flanger starting at different part of the sweep

I want to play certain sections of my song with flanger on, but I want the flanger to start at different parts of the 'sweep'.

Is there a trick to this ? or do I need a different pedal ?

Re: how to get flanger starting at different part of the sweep

What pedal are you using? All the true analog flangers will do this. I set up my TC Flashback delay as a flanger and it can do it too. I'm pretty sure the flanger that I use in my Line 6 M9 also does it. The only one pedal I know for sure can't is the Boss BF-3.

And by "this" I mean continue sweeping while disengaged. The Boss BF-3 starts at the same position each time you kick it on which I think is pretty unnerving.

I'm not sure I get what the OP wants. Is it for the flanger to start at a particular, preset point in its sweep?

Pats Travers and Thrall used to use A/DA flangers with external expression pedals controlling the sweep. That way they could sync the swooshy jet-plane noises to the song. You could do that today with any multieffects unit that lets you assign the expression pedal to the flanger's sweep parameter.

I have a TC Vortex and it too starts at the same position every time I kick it on.
Unless, I am unaware of a setting or trick to it ?
I don't need it to start at a particular point, (although that would be nice) and I don't have a multi-effects pedal, but I do have 2 TC Delays.

If bypass starts the sweep (I didn't realise any pedals did this tbh) then maybe get a bypass pedal and leave the pedals on so it thinks its on and naturally goes through the sweep. Or buy a boss bf-2 or mooer elec lady which are both cool analog flanger.

FWIW, my TC Flashbacks are both minis.

Re: how to get flanger starting at different part of the sweep

I asked for help on the TC website, I will update when/if I get an answer.
They have dozens of 'tone prints' for the Vortex, I am hoping that will help me because I can not find a solution with the dials.

Re: how to get flanger starting at different part of the sweep

Did you try switching between buffered bypass and true bypass?

Re: how to get flanger starting at different part of the sweep

Thanks folks.
I didn't try the bypass switching or bypass pedal but I did get a response from TC Electronics, which I will post below.
I have many 'true bypass' pedals, I wonder if I can rig something up, like a pedal I don't use, but have keep it in front of the chain ???

Thank you for contacting us. Unfortunately, this is not a possibility on this unit. It will always start a the top of the sweep.
I apologize for the inconvenience
