Hey Guys
What do I need to solder onto my Volume Pot in order to imitate a Tone Pot's treble bleed while having only 1 pot ( volume) on the guitar
Guitar is HH setup

If you have a 500K pot, and want it to sopund like a 250K pot, solder a 1/4 watt 470K resistor to the outside lugs of the voulme pot.

Rick....did you find that messing a bit with the pot taper? it does change it some.

It is 500k volume but I think droping the value to 250 might be to much
The bridge pup is pretty much a overwound JB with A2
Maybe something that drops it to 400-350k ?
Do Volume pot at 500k and tone at 500k value together drop to 250k?
If so then 470 resistor is the way to go
I really appreciate all the answers so please keep them coming

choose a different resistor to put on the outer lugs of the pot

the equivalent resistance is equal to:

R = (R1 * R2) / (R1 + R2)

where R1 is the pot resistance and R2 is the value of the resistor you add

BTW, adding a resistor you change the pot taper, so expect a different 'feel' when you will turn the knob.

there's another option anyway: depending on what frequency you want to put the -3db/Octave knee of the low pass filter, you can solder a single resistor and a cap in series from the output lug of the Volume pot to the ground.

the cut off frequency is :

f = 1 / (2 * PI * R * C)

this way you simulate the presence of a tone knob fixed in one position.

Sorry. I must have misunderstood your original question. I thought you were asking how to make the vol control act as a volume and tone control in one pot.
 
Sounds like he just wants the treble bleed mod added to the volume pot. In that case, put a cap and resistor across the middle and hot lug of the volume pot, not the two outside lugs. Check the Wiring Diagrams page for a pic and suggested values for the cap and resistor.
