How to order a Shop Floor Custom model?

Do I have to order via a Duncan dealer or can I email directly to Seymour Duncan custom shop?

How much does it generally cost if I simple ask for covers or bobbins with different colors? What if allen-head screws?

If you go direct, you are going to pay full price. I highly recommend ordering from a dealer.

Wymore has left the building. Last I remember reading on here is he was selling the business/liquidating stock. Not sure who is left on here as far as dealers go.

Pinto is still a dealer, I think. Though as far as I remember he's based in Canada.

When I used to order shop floor customs, there was no upcharge. The specifics of my orders usually consisted of non-standard bobbin colors, usually double cream. I also ordered through Blackrose Customs when I did this. I don't recall John ever saying there was a discount on shop floor customs, but if I ordered an APH II with double cream bobbins I paid the same price as he had a double black or zebra APH II listed for.

I've never ordered from Pinto, but I would not hesitate to. I always, always try to use a forum dealer if possible. I'm not sure if you can order a shop floor custom directly from Duncan, but I know you can order a custom shop order directly from them. Someone else may know the answer to that.

  • yes, order through a dealer
  • John sold Wymore Guitars, but they are still in business under new ownership
  • yes, there is usually no upcharge, other than material cost differences - for instance, A2 magnets are a little more than A5 magnets
