When the PU is ready to be assembled with a single braid wire, which wires are soldered together? My start is black wire and my finish is white. Is the braided wire soldered to the baseplate?
Both start wires (or alternatively both finish wires) are wired together for series operation. The other two are are hot and ground. Most likely the slug coil wire is hot.
It all depends on what the other pickup you are matching it with is wired up.
