How versitile are the tele hot rails?

Hi, I have a highway one tele with a GFS style rail bridge pickup in it now and want something that sounds more like a humbucker that can handle alternative rock tones and don't really like metal all too much. I have also looked at the little 59 and am concerned with how it will take overdrive. Does anyone use these and not play metal?

Heya gibsonbass76, welcome to the forum! The Lil 59 is a great pickup but is voiced more like a PAF. The HR is way hotter and fuller in the mids. If you install one and wire it for series/parallel, it will be very versatile.

I was hoping it would sound a lot like a full sized JB, thanks for the info.
