How very odd - suspected USB conflict thing.

I use a Yamaha MW10 USB mixer to do recording on, I also use it for general purpose music playback from my little macbook pro when I'm in that room.
Last night I thought it was brocken as it would only play back in mono.
Darn it, I thought, yet more expense.
Further investigations reveal that it's fine while using Cubase, it's itunes... unless cubase is running in which case itunes plays in nice clear stereo, kill cubase and it's back to mono.

I tried updating itunes and that worked... until I fired up cubase and then quit at which point itunes went mono again.

Computers... go figure.

System Preferences issue. Cubase is hijacking the sound settings.

It's just odd that itunes only plays in stereo when cubase is active... and also that it didn't do it before.

But yes, it does seem to be cubase, and what ever it does to the USB codek (or what ever it is) that seems to be the issue. never mind, just have to remember to have cubase running while listening via the USB gizmo (headphone output is not affected.)

Is one of these suckers trying to use 5.1 sound?

Re: How very odd - suspected USB conflict thing.

When I run into problems like this (pretty much on any OS) there are clients that do stereo, clients that do 5.1 and some smartass software that says "hey I know how to handle that" - but doesn't.
