How would a Classic Stack Plus and Cool Rails sound

in a superstrat with mahogany body and neck, maple top and pau ferro fingerboard?
It will retain the vintage sound with more punch for some jazz-fusion and instrumental rock like Andy Timmons?
The bridge will be a Custom or a Parallel Axis and i want the Classic Stack Plus, but i'm afraid that it won't have the strong and fat sound for a good instrumental, so i'm thinking about Cool Rails in neck and Classic Stack Plus in the middle.
It's true the Cool Rails is a little muddy?

bump

I heard from some people that the Custom + Cool Rails doesn't goes well together, they sound entirely different and don't match at all.
Someone knows more about that?

I wouldn't say that it's muddy. More of like fat with clarity. It can get really single coil-y if you want to. I'd prefer 500k pots with it. Dunno how it pairs with Custom though.

Re: How would a Classic Stack Plus and Cool Rails sound

I just dropped a Custom and Cool Rails neck in a Mahogany Tele. (search for my thread titled "Custom/Cool Rails Review")
The Cool Rails neck in Mahogany is very bassy, but it still retains some sharpness.
It has a bit of a scoop going on too in the high mids.
It's still growing on me, I like the sound of it tapped alot.....

Just beware, it doesnt slice thru the mix like a katana so if that's what you want, try maybe a Hot Rails, YJM Fury or something like that.

If you prefer a fat, smoky, bluesy single coil sound (sort of p-90ish), then get the Cool Rails.

As far as the Custom and CR sounding good together......I'm not really sure I would say that. You would think that both having ceramic mags would make them sound similar......wrong-o.......The voices are VERY different.
I usually use em one at a time. They sound way better by themselves.

The Cool Rails sucks. It's just bland. It's rather put in a hot rails and run it in parallel.

Why don't you just get the Andy Timmons set ?

Dimarzio AT-1 , 2x Cruiser bridge models, 500K vol and tone pots.

His mahogany Ibanez had them and sounded amazing. :notworthy

This is what I thought. But didn't say it for some reason. It's a very good set and covers many styles.

I'd have to go along with that. I ended up with a Cool Rail back when it was the only SD 'rail' pup I could find without the flange. it's better than a kick in the teeth, but I've never been as happy with it as a Hot Rail that I could split.

I'm also curious about any input on the Classic Stack Plus.
