Well i sent my amp to the tube doctor for repairs but while its there i am going to have him put in new power tubes. My ? is this i bought these tubes from the tube depot/ jj's 6l6 and the bias point on the bottom of these tubes is 20. what does this mean? if my thinking is correct it would mean that the tubes bias piont would be 40 that seemes really low. i thought that this amp is usually biased at around 60 to 70. can i use these tubes? thanx:reporter:

Re: hrddlx tube ?

The rating on the bottom of the tube is used for matching up pairs. Rule of thumb for a 6L6 big bottle would be about 35ma. But, you really need to take into account the high voltage hitting the tube. There is a calculation you can look up. The tube section of the Weber VST bulletin board has a calculator on it.

Re: hrddlx tube ?

If you are using the bias point in your HRD you are reading BOTH tubes. So a reading of 60 to 70 mV is in range. For more info Google Justin Holton's Unofficially Hot Rod Deluxe site.:)
