This beautiful example started its life as a 1986 Charvel Model 4. A few years later I acquired a 1988 Model 2 and swapped necks; I also gutted the mini-toggle / active setup in favor of a 3-way switch and 500K volume pot. In this pic it's loaded with a Custom 5 and Cool Rails, but I swapped the bridge for a regular ceramic Custom a couple years ago. It sounds pretty good, but I'm thinking of possibly swapping in an A2 or UOA5.
I also periodically consider routing it H-H as the Cool Rails sits a bit low and I'm having trouble raising it high enough to balance with the bridge. Maybe I'll have to shim the cavity? I really like the tone of the CR, I just wish it was a bit more usable here.

I dislike HSS guitars. So on my couple of Jacksons with the HSS configuration, I converted them by making three way switch and using the middle as just a dummy.There is something really special about the Bridge and neck in tandem with a dedicated high output humbucker like neck pickup . My pet peeve though is people using a stock output single coil, even like a injector in the neck with a humbucker bridge- GAG ME!

I own a Pacifica from Yamaha. I play it every day. It is my go to guitar. It sounds great with stock pickups.

Why is it not a HSS. A HSS has 1 or 2 humbuckers in them? Mine has 1.

i used to use a 3 way in my hss.. but ive gone back to the hss config but this time ,with a neck-always on mod so i can get the bridge/neck combo
