HS2 HS3 question

Question: A friend is asking me my opinion on putting a HS3 in the mid position and a HS2 in the bridge. I'm clueless about the gauge wire used in these pickups and outputs but looking at DC resistance I suspect that the 2 is #43 and the 3 is #44 which could make the 3 in the mid position functional...any ideas? Thanks.

Re: HS2 HS3 question

I know in my Jem it came with a hs-2 in the middle... The newer ones come with hs-3's in the middle... The change coincided with the change from paf pros to evolutions in the neck and bridge... Really you could use either pickup in any position... If I remember right Eric Johnson uses hs-2's in all 3 spots...
To me they are actually fairly similar sounding pickups... the hs-2's have more highs...

Re: HS2 HS3 question

DMZ, my friend, and EJ have all said some noise reduction even in single coil mode. The DC resistance is through the roof even for #44 wire on the HS3 when wired in series. Is the common practice on this PU for humbucking to wire it in parallel?
