HSH Guitar

I’m thinking a Seth Lover / Classic Stack / Seth Lover combo for a new HSH build. Has anyone ever tried this combo? I haven’t had much luck mixing Humbuckers with Strat pickups but I’m hoping this will work.

I think that would work just fine, unless you want to split the Seths for some reason- you'd have to order 4 conductor versions.

Vintage PAFs and a stacked single coil can work very well for HSH. Notch positions 2 and 4 can be useful for rhythm playing and cleaner tones. Although I have not used Seths specifically, it seems likely to work well.

To get a little closer to matched output levels should I get the Classic Stack Bridge for the middle position? Looks like it’s a little hotter but not sure if it will sound too dark there.

The Classic Stack Plus does not sound dark at all, and soundwise (and volume-wise) would be a great match.

I would choose a vintage output classic stack pickup for middle position.
1) The Seths are A2 magnets, so the output will not be too much to cause a mismatch. Classic stacks give more output that true single coils anyway.
2) With a hot middle pickup, the extra mids can make the notch positions indistinct / muddy. Tone-wise I prefer a brighter tone in notch positions, but you might prefer something else.

I would go for the middle version of classic stack plus. The middle version has *South* magnetic polarity. It can potentially do hum-cancelling in pos 2 and 4 if you decide to use coil-splits to the slug coil of the humbuckers.

I'm not saying your idea is bad but i would rahter go for something little bit hotter for the bridge. 59/Custom hybrid maybe, depending on the guitar.

You pretty much described exactly what I’m looking for. Thanks for the help!

the stks4b is a bit darker than the neck or middle along with having more output
