HSH SD Pick Ups

Hello. Looking for suggestions on a single pickup in an HSH set up. I have the Seymour Duncan Alpha and Omega neck and bridge pups on order. Would a Hot Rails be to much with 2 humbuckers already? Any suggestions on another SD pick up or would the Hot Rail do? I play heavy rock and metal but play around with Blues and less aggressive music as well.

Welcome to the forum!

I'd suggest a cleaner pickup in the middle. Perhaps a Cool Rails if you want it to sound like a clean and clear humbucker, or a Classic Stack Plus if you want it to sound like a Strat pickup. Both are hum-cancelling.

If you want some realistic Strat tones in the middle, I would do something like the Vintage flat neck in the middle. That way if you auto split the humbuckers in 2 and 4 with a vintage wind real single it will hum buck in every position except the center. With the low output single you will get a nice quack in position 2 and 4 then have full buckers at the end and, true single coil tones n the middle. Use a STANDARD wind, NOT a RW/RP in the middle or it won't hum cancel. Have run this set up in several guitars with a H-S-H set up, and it works very well.
I know how to get some really unexpectedly realistic strat and tele tones out of unexpected combos.
Example is here Alt 8 Bridge Sentient neck, both split through my little Boogie Subway.
