HSH strat middle pickup suggestions

I have an HSH strat based on a Squier standard strat.

The pickups are alnico 2 Cort Classic Rocker humbuckers and the original Squier alnico 5 single coil.

I really like the humbuckers. They are very close in tone to my Gibson 57 PAF reissues. Slightly warmer in the upper mids and slightly hotter - 8.5k bridge, 8.2k neck. But still retain a bit of spank in the trebles. For OEM pickups they are surprisingly good. They are very chimey.

They are asymmetric with the bridge being 4.5k south and 5k north, neck is 4.1k south, 3.9k north. You can hear the difference

They split really well to the south coil being active. I was the bling of changing them but I like them too much!

So I am looking for a middle pickup, maybe a single coil or stacked, or noiseless. Open to suggestions. The main thing is that it's living in a guitar with 500 k pots - only master tone. The existing pickup is too trebly with the 500k pots. The existing pickup is 6.2k.

Even with the coil splits, the bridge and neck are not at all too bright. So I am looking for a good tone match.

I would go with a noiseless one...like an STK-S4 or Hot Strat Neck. Either one can be split and combined with half of a humbucker, if you are after some quackish sounds, too.

APS-2 RW/RP with a 510k resistor hard-wired in parallel?

Thanks for that tip. I wired a 500k resistor in parallel with the middle to the 3rd lug on the tone pot and it's made a huge difference ! No more juggling tone control and pickup selection.

When I finally decide what to go in I'll keep it that way.

Glad to be of help!

I don't know if the resistor *and* an APS-2 is that great an idea. I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote that.

id think the aps2 would sound best with the 510k resister, with 500k pots it would be pretty damn bright
