HSH Stratocaster with P-rails

Hi

In an attempt to make a very versatile strat, I'm building an HSH setup with a set of P-rails. Which singlecoil would you recommend as the middle pickup to match the singlecoil parts of the P-rails?

As the two singlecoils in the P-rails are reverse polarity of each other, only one of the combinations with a single coil in the middle will be hum-cancelling - I'll have to live with that. I'll use switches for each P-rail to select P90/humbucker/single and a 5-way as usually on strats. And add two push/pull pots to give the neck+bridge combination and a phase-reverse. What values for pots and caps would work well in this setup?

Greetings!

Welcome to the forum!

Either a ssl 2 or 6 should work depending on how hot you want it. Also 500k pots with a 22nf cap are standard. I recommend a linear taper volume and an audio taper tone.

I would recommend a Porter S90 - a single coil P90 hybrid design stuffed into a single coil footprint. I have an S90 in the middle position of a P90-S90-P90 Frankenstrat and it is borderline nirvana. Nice and juicy, thick and clear as a bell.

Highly recommended. Call Brian and tell him the problem with the bridge/neck polarity and see if he can work out a solution.
