HSH with duckbucker schematic

I need a diagram for an HSH guitar with a duckbucker being the single-coil (and the neck humbucker is a 2 conductor with braids). It has one volume, one tone, and a 5-way switch.

I've been trying to figure this one out for a while, and I can't. I'm surprised that SD hasn't put any HSH schematics up still (it's been like 2 years).

Any help would be MUCH appreciated. I've been trying for a very long time for this.

One thing that's confusing me with the diagram is that usually with the tone pot, the right lug is to positive, the center is output to the cap and then to the ground, and the lleft lug is unused. On the volume pots, the right lug is to the ground, the middle lug is output, and the left lug is input. But, as you can see from the diagram it's different. (Or, am I mistaken about the above information?)
The guitar has aftermarket pots, so I figure it should be wired as I said.

Furthermore, I believe most ibanez guitars (this one included, if I'm not mistaken) come with a three-lug stereo jack for installing active pickups (so the battery will not be supplying power if there is no cord insterted).

One more thing: the ibanez pickups have 3 wires--white, red, and green. I believe white is hot, green is ground, and I'm not sure about red. In the diagram provided by ibanez, they're also connected to the 5 way switch (maybe to split the pups or something?)

I would VERY MUCH appreciate any suggestions and especially diagrams, especially including how to wire the duckbucker in with them. Sorry this post is so long, I haven't slept in a very long while (writing papers), and I get very wired. :smack: :smack:

First you have to tell us if you want any coil splitting in the "notch" positions. I have 2 RG's with HSH configs and they both split the bridge and neck positions. You say that you only have a single conductor at the neck (One wire and braid) so you have to make sure it's in phase with the mid pup otherwise the output will be very low. so I guess, first I/we need to know what pickups you have and what style of 5 way you have. After that, it's easy...

edit: I looked at the Ibanez diagram, it looks like red is hot, white is your split and whatever is left is ground, unless you have 4 wires plus a bare one (5 total) in which case, we need to know the brand of pickup in order to know what wires do what.

Sorry for the confusion

The original ibanez pups were 3 conductor.

I have a 5 way (not super) switchcraft, I think I got it from allparts. It's something similar to this: http://www.allparts.com/shopimages/EP_0076-000.jpg

Right now (until I get enough money to buy new pups, like a cool-rails and distortion), I'm wiring a '59N I had lying around (two conductor), duckbuckers for middle, and Pearly Gates Plus 4-conductor for bridge (odd combinations, I know. I really just want some pups in the guitar right now, and not the powersounds).

Since the '59 isn't 4-conductor, I can't really split it, so I have no idea what I should do with the notch positions. If there's nothing there, it's really no big deal at this point in time for me, but if someone can think of something, anything is better than nothing I suppose!

Again, I appreciate your help. I've no idea how to draw a diagram when it comes to the switchcraft!

Since the ’59 is 2 conductor and IMO the hum-canceling single coils don’t sound very good split, I’d wire the guitar up like a H-S-S guitar (the red and white of the Duckbucker would be soldered together and shielded).

Obviously, you won’t have the red and white for the ’59, but otherwise the diagram is fundamentally the same.

Main difference will be that you’ll solder the red and white of the DB together and shield, send green and bare to ground, and black to selector switch.

Since all the pups are Duncans, everything should be in phase.

If you want something (supposedly) foolproof, and just a little different, try a Megaswitch. You end up with no position 3, instead a tele-like n/b combination and a bridge tone control.

I was looking through some pups lying around and I found a '59 neck with 4 conductor. So, I can have something in notch positions. Any suggestions, and how to go about doing it?
