Hi folks, I'm trying to rewire a mate's gutted out Kramer.

It's a HSS with rear mounted control cavity drilled for three mini toggles and a vol pot.
Wanting on/off for the singles and split/off/series for the bucker. The switches are easy
but how do I wire up the volume pot and earths?
Pickups are stock AFAICT though I will need to take polarity and hum cancelling into account.

I'd also like to consider a stacked vol/tone pot for more versatility.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

i could be wrong but this is the solution i came up with..not feeling all that great so i didnt color it. fairly straight forward.. only issue i had was on the DPDT.. I kept on wanting to make it a on/on/on which did not work.. made it amd on/off/on did the trick.. thought it didnt look right so i googled old kramer wirings and found one of a switch i needed.. exactly the solution i came up with but just didnt look right.. the jumper through me off i guess.. I do try to do all of these wirrings in my head and not cheat.. lol only way to improve ones skills.. was going to draw up one with a concetric volume/tone but thats pretty straight forward.

That's a nice drawing, but don't you have the output jack wires reversed? Looks like you have "hot" going to the sleeve terminal.

nope just the way its drawn..does sorta look that way though.. I might try to redraw it,but this program is somewhat limited in what can draw or when i put it in PSP7, I could just erase a line.. lol

same drawing.. but painted and touched up a tad. No 'pup company specified by the OP so I went with my default wire color scheme... i.e. Iron Gear's..having a black hot like SD or others kinda screws up my colors as i use black for my grounds..lol

It also looks to me like you've got the lead wire (red) going to the sleeve lug of the output jack. The ground wire (black) is going to the insulated contact of the jack which would normally be the tip connector/lug.

really.. to me it looks like the hot is going to the tip.hmm maby we arnt seeing the same things..if this was for me, i would take a dmm and test each component to make sure everything is at the correct orientation

well kids, we all know what happens if you actually wire the jack up backwards.. lots of hum.. lotsssss of hum


i just looked at every drawing i have done and all mine are drawn the same with concern to the output jack.. this doesnt really mean that i am right or wrong though, just that im consistent. still looking into it

ya are right.. looked at some other drawings and i got things backwards.. as i said, its not a problem if i do the drawings for me as i know what i meant, but for others, it needs to change. I think i might just draw a better jack in the future that is more clear..

np.. hope it works out for ya.. it should as 2 other wiring guru's are in this thread too and the only issue they had was the jack..which i fixed.

let us know how things turn out
