HSS American Deluxe Strat wiring colours question...

Hello all,
I read somewhere awhile back that there is an issue with the wiring when using Fender single coils and SD humbuckers in an HSS config. i.e an out of phase problem perhaps? I'm looking at buying a beautiful American Deluxe HSS Olympic White next week and i'll be changing out the bridge humbucker straight away. Love the sound of SD humbuckers, Fender ones not so much. If I need to swap wires around could someone please steer me in the right direction?

Many thanks people!

Re: HSS American Deluxe Strat wiring colours question...

HBs have (usually) 4 wire configuration (black and green / red and white). Typically if you are not coil-splitting (turning off one coil for a single coil sound) then only two of those wires are used (one goes to the selector switch, the other to the pot) and the other pair is taped off. IF you should have phase issues, just swap which two wires you're using (black/green to white/red). Otherwise I'm not sure there would be an issue.

Actually, you'd reverse black/green to green/black. (Leave red/white soldered and taped together.)

You weren't actually wrong. Just, there's several different ways to reverse phase of a 4-conductor pickup. Reversing green/black is simply the easiest. :)

I stand corrected. Thanks much. :)

You were actually perfectly correct if you had all 4 wires used separately - in series swapping white & red still means they are soldered together and taped.

Thanks. Btw, I added labels for people who don't have a color printer.
