HSS Floyd Strat advice

I've been looking for a top mounted floyd rose guitar for awhile and managed to snag a great deal on US strat with a factory installed floyd. The guitar has been heavily modified so will be doing quite a bit of work to get to where I want. The last owner converted it to a S/S/S with a bunch of mini switches so I need to buy a whole new pickguard, pickups, and electronics. I know my way around dual humbucker guitars but have a few questions on a HSS setup.

1.) For pots, what do you do with single coils and humbuckers? Will my single coils sound too bright/harsh with 500K pots?
2.) I'm planning on trying out the "78" in the bridge, any recommendations on the single coils?
3.) Wiring, thinking straightforward 5 way, no push/pulls or anything. Maybe go middle and split humbucker for position 2. Any other ideas worth exploring?

Appreciate the help

Generally, I use 500k volume, 250k tone for the singles, 500k tone for the humbucker. In a standard HSS setup, hum cancelling in all positions is important to me. So I generally go for hum-cancelling singles like the STK-S4. But if you have singles in mind, that's cool, too. I don't like super hot pickups in the bridge, so a 78 should work fine, just like any PAF-type. I use a 59/Custom Hybrid in my HSS. I don't like the pickups to be that out-of-balance.

Thanks Mincer. Balance is definitely my concern with the humbucker and I am looking for a true single coil. Not a lot of experience in pairing singles and a humbucker so should i stay vintage output on the singles like an alnico 2 or Five Two, or go bump em up to something higher output like a custom strat? My sense is to stick with the vintage output.

5/2 neck and middle with a 78 might be a great setup. depending on how bright you want things, i bet you could use a 250k volume pot with the 78

In my HSS setup I have a Perpetual Burn with 2 Classic Stack Plus STK-S4. Master volume is 500K with a 250K master tone. Works just fine. On the 5-way, I put a 470k resistor off the STK-S4 tabs to ground. That helps keep them from getting too bright. They essentially “see” a 250K volume at that point.
