HSS soldering question for a newbie

Hi,

I have a Squier Vintage Modified 70's Strat (SSS, 3x Duncan Designed SC-101) which I switch to HSS (2x DD SC-101 and 1x Duncan Designed HB-102)
I will solder it like in this wiring plan:

My questions:
On the Push/Pull Tone Pot - do I have to solder the right pin (of the 3) together with ground solder?

Screenshot (70a).png

My 5-Way Switch has 8 Pins in a row, on the plan they are "zig-zag" (left-right-left-right...) - can I solder the pins the same way (for ex. here the white stripe from the neck coil to the 4th position - from the left - on my switch)?

The HB-102 just have red, green, black, white - but no grey. does this also work?

Thank you!

You can either fold back the Pot lug and touch it to the Pot casing (as shown in your pic) and solder them together -or connect a simple wire between the two. -Also TS -make sure to scuff up the Pot casing before you solder to it -a wire brush works great. Don't use steel wool.

My 5-Way Switch has 8 Pins in a row, on the plan they are "zig-zag" (left-right-left-right...) - can I solder the pins the same way (for ex. here the white stripe from the neck coil to the 4th position - from the left - on my switch)?

Im not processing the question -I apologize -the grey generally refers to the shield or "drain" wire that is in the sleeve surrounding the 4 color conductors.

My Switch looks like this:

the soldering pins are in a row not one left one right etc. as shown in the drawing
