HSS Strat- Hot Rail humbucker with Quarter Pound Single coils in Middle and Neck

I have a Strat which currently has a Hot Rail humbucker installed along with the stock middle and neck pickups. I want to swap out the middle and neck pickups and replace with quarter pounds. I also want to get the Tapped versions
I have checked the description on a number of websites and it only offers either OPTION 1: Neck/Middle/Bridge or OPTION 2 : Middle RWRP.

Firstly I'm unclear what RWRP means?
Secondly if I want the Neck pickup does OPTION 1 mean that the same pickup can be used for each of the positions? That doesn't make sense to me

Or, do I have to buy the set even though I won't be using the bridge pickup?

welcome to the forum!

rw/rp means reverse wound/reverse polarity. typically you would use this option for a middle pup in a three single coil setup to get humcancelling in the 2&4 positions on a typical strat wiring.

option1 can be used for neck, middle, or bridge. there is only one qp strat wind. the only options are a tap in the middle of the coil or rw/rp. you do not have to buy a set, you can just buy two.

do you plan on using typical strat wiring?

Also, I am curious about the guitar and what kind of music you are playing on it!

I play in a hard rock band. Similar to Alice in Chains. The stock neck and middle pickups sound great but aren't high output enough to use for what we play. Can't hear them in the mix
So, currently I am only using the bridge Hot Rail pickup in the band

I won't be wiring myself so I don't really know about that, sorry. Luthier will do it. I just want the option with the tapping to have close to original pickup sound if I'm playing on my own.

Quarter Pounds are great pickups, but they don't quite sound like traditional single coils, and certainly don't sound like humbuckers. It really depends on what you use the neck and middle pickups for. Since they are single coils, though, they will hum- sometimes loudly with a lot of gain and compression.

"dont quite sound like traditional single coils" is an understatement. these are nothing like a vintage strat pup. strong output, big bottom, thick overall sound. they are great sounding pups, i love em in the bridge, less so in the neck and middle, but im used to a more vintage tone for the blues rock i play. the tapped option is a good one, especially for clean tones. i might go ssl6 if i was in your situation, but i do love the fat sounds of a qp

Yeah, while the output matches humbuckers and P90s, the tone is far from traditional singles, so it is a trade off. If you love what they do, awesome. But don't expect them to do the traditional Strat thing, even tapped.
