P-90 Dirty Harry Rio Grande single coil wasn't cuttin it in my Strat.
Replaced with a Duncan Custom trembucker, thats more like it.

Mighty Mite northern ash body, vintage neck.
Sperzel locking tuners.
Fender Custom Shop Texas Special neck & middle pups.
The finish is really nice.
9.6lbs !!!

Got to test the guitar this morn after my wife woke up.
Sounds much better.
Ive had Charvel Strat style guitars with buckers but all my other Fender Strats were singles.
Much prefer the humbucker.
This body has an HSH route so i may at some point put a bucker in the neck.
Like the single coil thats in there now tho.

The Suhr diagram uses 500k pots (for the Humbucker) but uses a super switch to put a 470k resistor in parallel with the volume pot to reduce the load to ~250k as is typically used with Strat pickups.

I don't need John Suhr's circuit. My stock 250K pots work fine. No issues.

So the picture shows a 500k pot and a 250k pot, but two 500k pots is what's actually used? The pot labelled 250k just 'sees' 250k when that resistor is in the circuit. What do the pots measure out to in the second (bridge,middle parallel) position?

Hey,

The resistors go to the volume pot alone, and only in a position where single coils are engaged(not humbuckers). Then, in single coil positions the pickups use the 250K tone and in the humbucker position the 500K tone pot is engaged.

This slows for single coils to see a 250K volume and tone just like in a traditional Strat, the humbucker has a 500K volume and tone control like a typical humbucker guitar. This means that your singles keep the rich warmth and the humbucker has the snark in the same guitar. Without the resistors and the Suhr wiring (with most low to medium output pickups) you get either a) Ice pick singles and a normal humbucker sound OR b) warm single coils and a muddy and dull humbucker. Granted you could put say DiMarzio SDS-1’s in the single slots and almost any humbucker plus 500K pots, or traditional singles and a JB with 250K pots. I like vintage output on both singles and humbuckers... so the Suhr wiring is my suggestion.

The Suhr wiring is really only useful for a master tone situation, with a normal Strat you can just toss a humbucker in the bridge without any changes to the pots or adding any resistors and all the pickups will still see the "correct" resistance.

Looking closer at the diagram, it also has a partial split and an SD style treble bleed circuit.

Ive got the bridge tone [furthest from volume pot] wired to the humbucker as my amps are brite & i like to roll off highs. Ive always done that to all my Fender Strats, justs takes a jumper between 2 terminals on the switch.
Other than the pup & pickguard i needed nothing special or extra to add.
Works by design.

TB-5 Custom is my first pick for a Strat bridge HB. I use a 250k tone pot and it sounds just fine!
