Hum/Noise Help

I just wired my guitar with humbucker and one volume, that's it. Followed the wiring diagram on seymour site, extactly. I even shielded the body cavity with foil as well as the cover.

I still have alot of hum. Even with lights turned off, computer turned off etc. I try my wolfgang and no noise. But I plug this guitar in and get alot of buzz. I do have a ground from the pot to the strings...Standard floyd rose grounding.

Any suggestions, tips?

Re: Hum/Noise Help

Hum = grounding issue. Every electrical part has to be interconnected into the same common network, which is directly linked to the bridge ground wire. This means all PU's, pots, switch, & jack. You missed something. You won't get this noise if everything is grounded together.

Re: Hum/Noise Help

Just want to make sure where talking about the same thing. This is more of a buzz I guess. Does not change when I touch the strings. So probably a grounding issue huh?

Also, if a guitar is grounded correctly is all this wrapping the cavity in foil or copper overkill?

Re: Hum/Noise Help

Are there any rules to grounding as well........For example for a simple humbucker, volume setup, the bridge, pickup and jack are all grounded to the volume pot. Might be a dumb question, but can they all be grounded to the pot together, or should they be soldered to the pot body separately?

I know, probably overthinking this!
