Humbucker and rails set-up with quack when split

Hopefully the title conveys my question, but I have a basswood, hardtail guitar and Im trying to choose some mildly hot pickups with clarity and articulation that also quack together when split. Im looking at the Cool Rails or Dimarzio Chopper for the neck and possibly a 59/Custom for the bridge but I will take all suggestions. Mostly playing low gain instrumental music with some dense chords. Thanks!

Sorry but in my experience rails are just too weak when split. The c/59 by itself split may sound decent though.

(I have tried splitting hot rails, satch track and fast track. None of them sounded good to me)

You might choose some sort of Stack for the neck, along with the Hybrid. The Hybrid splits well, and so do Stacks- they will do the quack thing together, too.

If you use a master spin a split (or individual ones) you can definitely get those pickups to quack well together.

Re: Humbucker and rails set-up with quack when split

Thanks for the responses, I don't have any experience coil splitting rail humbuckers. I was hoping to get three distinctive sounds (bridge humbucker, split bridge and neck, neck humbucker) which is why I hadn't really considered the stack pickups. I like the split sounds from the Ibanez s5521 and rg652, which are both two humbucker guitars, but I figured some people here would have more real world experience

Yeah, you can achieve that. The rails fully split sound reasonable. But you'll get the best results from a partial split. If you use a 4k7 or 6k8 resistor, it will give you quack but fuller sound and less volume drop.

Thanks Clint, I'll do some reading about partially splitting the humbucker, I may be back for more info
