Humbucker in the bridge of a Tele?

Has anyone modded a Tele to fit a humbucker in the bridge? I`m assuming some routing would need to done unless Fender does a bigger route to begin with. I`m just thinking a JB would sound really good in a Tele.

yes, some routing is in order. as well as changing the bridge to one that accommodates a humbucker. gotoh makes one. alternatively, you can check out butnut's telegib. he literally cut a tele bridge in half and use a humbucker ring to mount his jb.

they have made teles with bridge buckers, if you dont have one i might try and find one of those if you dont want to go thru modding one

I think getting a cheap warmoth with a HB route in the bridge is the safest option. Because once you rout a tele for a HB there is no going back, the cavity would show through a standard single tele bridge.

The right humbucker in a Tele kicks ass. They're the closest thing to a Les Paul that Fender made.

The Tele-Gib that Seymour put together for Jeff Beck had a Jazz neck and JB bridge humbucker. It's been done, and sounds great as the songs Freeway Jam and Cause We've Ended As Lovers can attest to. Lew

iirc, 250k pots were use in the jeff's tele-gib in conjunction with the jb and jazz.

I recently have. Here's the deal... '91 Tele Am Std Rosewood Neck, Warmoth Body & Pickguard, 2 GFS Dream 180 pickups (think Filtertron/P-90/PAF all wrapped into one). Fender/Schaller tuners, Gotoh bridge, CTS/CRL components (500k pots).
