humbucker polepieces/custom shop

I got in an EVH from the CS not too long ago, but have'nt been able to pop it into anything yet. The B screw/polepiece is the highest sticking out. Are they all supposed to be the same height coming from the custom shop, or are they already set to a nice sounding general height?

They are usually flush from the factory and there is no "right" way to set them. Some like flush, some like raised and I tend to match the fretboard radius and then tweak to taste.

I like them raised much on my JB ... just trust your ears what works the best for you ...

Would it be better to start with them all flat?

Whatever you want to do...I've got a few axes w/ the pole pieces radiused to match the strings, and a few without. There's not all that much of a difference...its very subtle.

This makes it brighter right?? Or am I wrong??
