Humbucker / SC Wiring Help

I'm new to the forum and hope someone can help. Any help would be much appreciated. I've looked through wire diagrams on Seymour site and can't seem to find the diagram I'm looking for.

I have a GL Screamin Demon HB and an old Duncan Design (came in oversee production Kramer). I'm looking for a setup with the HB in bridge and the SC in the neck......1 volume (500k) and 1 Gibson style 3-way switch.

I understand the Demon wiring and what I need to do, but not sure about the single coil as well.....it has a black and a white wire (which is hot, which is ground?). Which way should it be positioned? The wires come out of one side of the pickup..Should pup be positioned so wires are pointed towards top of guitar or the bottom?

This is simply easy setup, just trying to find a diagram for best way to do this.

Thanks for any help!

Re: Humbucker / SC Wiring Help

welcome to the forum!!

typically the wires of the single coil would point to the bridge of the guitar, not the neck but it wont really make any sonic difference.

i believe that to get the single coil in phase with the humbucker (assuming that you used black for hot and green for ground on the screamin demon) the white wire of the single coil would be hot and go to the switch

Re: Humbucker / SC Wiring Help

Why are you putting in a Duncan Design? They're nothing like an American-made PU (just as muddy-sounding as any Asian PU). You should spend a few bucks more & get a decent PU.

Re: Humbucker / SC Wiring Help

actually ive used a few of the sc101's and they arent bad at all, better than many of fenders offerings

Re: Humbucker / SC Wiring Help

I thought of replacing the duncan design. However, that pup really does not sound bad at all, you'd be surprised.

I have a Laney ProTube AOR and this pickup in neck position w/volume rolled half off, just sounds great. I've also used an old fuzz box through the laney with this pup and can nail Hey Joe sound close.

I have a 5150 head with bias mods....That just rocks with my paul or my wolfgang...but imo does not have the older tone and versatility to the setup mentioned above.

On that note, still trying to figure out what humbucker would be best in the plywood kramer body. The old duncan design sounded good, but I currently have a JB and a Demon, wondering which better route would be?

Re: Humbucker / SC Wiring Help

Jeremy, I'm assuming the sc101's you're referring to are the duncan designs I'm talking about?

Thanks
