Humbucker wire colors.

I'm trying to make my own website page for pickup wire colors. Just about every "pickup wire color" web page has an error on it ... perhaps even Seymour Duncan's.

It seems to me that the diagram for the Lawrence pickup has the wrong polariy. I think black and green are "North" and red and white are "South".

... and that is BEFORE modifiers and magnet swapping fiends have had their ways with those pickups.

Re: Humbucker wire colors.

It's not so much website errors as manufacturing changes. Older 80s Jackson pickups follow Duncan's color coding, but later models (90s and up) swapped one wire.

This is possible with all other brands as well, especially those who got into 4-conductors late (Gibson, etc).

Re: Humbucker wire colors.

Which brings up the question: why aren't the colors standardized? This is so stupid for manufacturers to feel the need to 'express themselves' with yet another different color code. All it does is confuse people.

Re: Humbucker wire colors.

Well thanks for the replies folks. (I thought this thread was just going to die with people thinking - "Oh God not another pickup wire color question". :smack: Those wire color questions are somewhat popular on the Internet. :)
Just to add even more to the confusio, I'm wondering if the Bill Lawrence wire codes are for THE Bill Lawrence or that other guy using the same name.
Seymour Duncan's wire code page is one of the best I have found so far.
