Humbucker wiring

I might be able to find the answer to this somewhere in the forum, but haven't located it yet. I just installed the Distortion (neck) pickup in the bridge position of an old Ibanez blazer. It's well shielded, and I am using a mini-switch (on-off-on) to a 500k pot volume, and a 250k pot for tone. The volume is not at all gradual, and it seems like that tone is more like a second volume for the other coil (I was aiming for a coil cut/off/humbucker option). The high E & B strings are a little dull to the sound. Any thoughts? I suppose I can try to bring the treble side up a little more.....

Interesting . . . I'm in the process today, of installing a Distortion neck, in the bridge of my Patriot.

The tone control, acting as a volume control, is usually a condition of accidently using too large of a cap value. For example, using a .1uf instead of a .01uf. Or using a .47uf, instead of a .047uf. You may want to check that first.

The volume control issue may be caused by having the wrong taper, or a linear slope perhaps. Depending on how difficult it is to get apart, you may want to measure the overall resistance of the pot, (end to end), and compare it with the resistance from one end to the wiper. (Middle lug, when the pot is turned halfway.)

That's awesome! I believe I may have a .47uf cap in there, so that will be something to check.

I will have to get out the old multi-meter again and check it all out.

Do you know, would there be anything else that would limit those two strings like that?

The string thing I'm not so sure about, other than gross misalignment with the pole pieces. But you should be able to readily see that. Also, how old are the strings?

Consider this a little "bump".
