I had my Custom/59 hybred installed in my LP and I have to say I was surprised at how much crunch I got compared to the output which is medium. The pickup doesn't compress and and is open and clear, the sound also has some grit to it which keeps it from getting to round sounding. I would say that this pickup fills a gap that Duncan has not filled in it's line up, anything thay have above PAF type output seems to compress to much and jam the frequencies together. (To my ears anyway.) If you are looking for a different sound and don't want to pay "boutique" prices contact Bachtorock and order one of his hybreds (he makes several), make sure you specify the magnet that will work best in the guitar/rig it will be used with. I added the last line because I have a bright guitar and got an A5 magnet when I should have known better and got an A2, live and learn to address the details before ordering! Peter is a great guy to deal with and his turn around is quick, and most important his prices are very reasonable.
