would this work? or is the output too far apart. i would want it in a les paul. duncan custom/59 hybrid in the bridge and a sp90-1n in the neck. i know im gonna get some comments about the phat cat but i feel that it has too big of a sound. i would much rather have a regular p90 in there.

Yeah, this should work fine. It would probably sound pretty cool, too. I love both of those pickups, and if you split the Hybrid with a switch, you can get a lot of different sounds there.

Depends on what you want to do...do you want the pickups out of phase? Or to split the Hybrid?

Yes, as Mincer said, splitting the hybrid to the Custom coil will give you lots of tonal options...all of them very good sounding. I'm not so sure you will get as good a sound out of putting one of the pups out of phase however.

Re: Hybrid custom/59 + SP90-1N = ?

It should, providing you choose the right one, which might be a bit of experimentation to get the right coil selected. It won't be dead quiet due to the 2 coils that are on not having the same wire, number of turns, and design.
