The new pups are in JB bridge, Jazz for neck and Hot Stack for middle. I love the tone and the sutain is awsom for the type of playing I do. I only have on issue and that is that with a 5 pos switch, the fouth position sounds thin almost weak but I dont use that position anyway.

Re: I am in love.

You might have to reverse the magnet or do some fiddling to select a differant coil to correct that 4th position. Sounds like the middle pickup is out of phase with whichever coil is being selected from the humbucker you're combining it with. Lew

Re: I am in love.

Thanks Lew, I appreciat it I was wondering if that might be the problem. I have never flipped a magnet but from what I have read its not that difficult. I may try it later.

Re: I am in love.

correct me if i'm wrong, but dont you just need to flip the two wires of the middle pickup round?

Yes...but then that pickup may be out of phase with the coil selected from the other humbucking pickup. A little experimentaion should solve the problem. One way would be to determine which coil is being left on in each humbucker when the coils are split. Then remove that middle pickup and hold it upside down against that coil and see if the poles are attracted or repeled. They should be attracted to help avoid that thin sound when combined. But it'll probably take a little experimenting and maybe some wire reversing (and/or magnet reversing) as you mentioned to get it right. Lew

Re: I am in love.

Thanks for the info folks I like the idea of attraction that would seem to make it easier to figure it out. Just a few bumps but I love the sound.

let me clarify here.... you say you dont use the 4th position, yet you make a fuss over it? Why bother changing it or what not, if you dont even use it!!

btw sorry if this is harsh in any way, not having the best day...

Yes, if it's electrically out of phase, no if it's magnetically out of phase.
