you take out the metal screw retainer bar, then you make a 0.24 gap on the stud side.
so that now the screw coil is full strength and the stud coil has less output than stock.
this is NOT a air zone
what this does is match the two coils like on the EVH custom wound DMZ:beerchug:

How does the EVH differ from the AZ or TZ? I have never A/B's though I have played an EVH.
I always felt those pickups rock, as does th guitar. But I feel they are still a little bit Dimarzio smooth compared to Duncan gritty.

the EVH dimarzio is right in between a TZ and air zone output wise about 360mv and
tone wise it is more crisp/pafish than those two and has more of a trebly tone
real cool pup and not very dimarzio sounding at all if you know what i mean:laugh2:
I liked them a lot which is why i kept them when i sold my ebmm EVH a while back but now with the modded TZ it is the same sound so i figured i would finally let RS II get his mits on them for a price!:laugh2:
the neck EVH dimarzio is essentially a air norton with more output(hint,hint)
