I Built THIS........Considering Changing The Bridge Pickup........

Warmoth left-hand Black Korina body, Warmoth roasted Maple neck, Seymour Duncan Phat cats. I recently traded an SD 59 neck pickup for a Seymour Duncan Custom 5 Trembucker. Considering installing the Custom 5 tp replace the Phat Cat. What do you think?




Notice the angled phone plug extension. Makes playing this guitar more comfortable.

Maybe you should explain what the problem is with the sound currently? It wouldn't be fun doing a pickup swap if it went the wrong direction.

The Custom 5 is much more scooped, and a lot louder than the Phat Cat. If that is what your guitar needs (if it is really mid-heavy, or you just hate mids), then it is a good swap.

No sir, there is no problem whatsoever. I usually like to mix pickup types in my guitar builds for a variety of tones. I really like the Phat Cats, and I've never tried or owned a Custom 5. Something new to try and hopefully a keeper.

Black Korina has a wider mid frequency range than Mahogany. Could be a good fit.

I noticed you don't have a tone control, so there's a risk the custom 5 could have too much top end brightness.

if the phat cat isnt too bright, i dont imagine the c5 would be either
