Re: I call it...

Not counting the stuff in other locations ... I have a head on top of a 2X12 on top of a 4x12 and right next to that, a head on top of a head on top of a 4x12. I call it a lack of adequate space.

Re: I call it...

Are you like 7 feet tall or something to be able to reach the top? I'm a short fellow so that setup would be a pain for me :chairfall lol

I'm six feet and I don't have a problem getting to the jacks or pots on the Mesa.

Putting it up there sucks though. It's the heaviest guitar head I've seen.

Re: I call it...

I don't understand how people do the full stacks, especially with expensive heads. They just look like they could tip over so easily.

Re: I call it...

You haven't lived till you've seen a guy with a short cable run to the edge of the stage, pulling his fullstack straight down onto the floor, especially if it's the guy who replaced you in your ex band after you moved upwards! hahaha. Yes, I was there when it happened, and it was spectacular.

Now that would be a sight!, and a great laugh session.

I've always thought spreading things out horizontally sounded much better,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,not that everyone has the space for multiple 412 cabs running side by side.

Re: I call it...

Running two 4x12s will give you better sound dispersion and a faux stereo image.

Running them on top of each other looks ****ing badass.

when i was 19 or 20.. i had a full stack AND a 2X15.. what makes this even more odd was that i lived with my grandmother at the time.. LOL

4X12 with celestians
4X12 with stock ampeg speakers
2X15.. not sure on the speakers but they where 15's for guitar i think
Randall RG 100es head
Ampeg V4 head

i might of had another 4x12 too cant remember

LOTS of gear for someone only making like 4.15/hr IMO

now adays I prefer either a 4x12 that is raised off the floor or just PC/headphones.. still nothing sounds like an angry 4x12.. nothing

I get the point of extra speakers pushing air, but I would rather put 2 4x12s side by side than risk the whole thing tipping and destroying the head. It does look cool though.
