I can't even...the end is near.

Re: I can't even...the end is near.

A used Tumnus can be had for $125 or so. I had a klone built from scratch (plus mods) for $120 minus the enclosure. The Klon circuit is killer as a clean boost with a pushed amp or using them with strats. Listings like this one feed into the distaste for them.

Now that looks interesting.

I may have to see if I can find someone to build me a hotrodded Klon now. Lol

C14 to 6.8n or 8.2n (stock is 3.9n, from memory) is an improvement, IMO. My build is as the original except for that one change (6.8n).

Re: I can't even...the end is near.

-C14 adds bass and helps the tone sound fuller (so it won't sound thin) through the cap value.
-The fat switch allows more low end to hit the op amp (2nd, I believe).
-Gain mod adds a bit more hair to the pedal (would have to double check the value)
-1994 spec emphasizes the low mids.

Its a little busy inside, but with all the mods turned off, it's a normal klon circuit (Aion board). I'm also using Russian diodes. So far I'm happy with the pedal. *The switches allow me to tailor the needs of specific amps, guitars, or pickups. Sounds good through the Tweed Harvard Clone I recently got.

Excellent. That's an Aion board with the pots mounted off board. The board is designed to fit in a B enclosure so it accommodates board mounted pots, which I like. I built my klone with the same board. Kevin at Aion designs and supplies high quality boards.
My diodes are socketed and I'm using a pair of 1N34a's or 1N270's (I cant recall which at the moment). Those look like Russian D9E's in your pedal. I have some of those as well and they were in my pedal initially. They sound great. If the forward voltage measures within a few hundredths (I use a Peak Atlas DCA-55 to test transistors and diodes) there isn't much of a difference, if any (that I can hear), between the different diodes I've tried in the klone.

Don't take the time to plot all this out for me if you haven't already done so, but do you have a schematic for that on hand?

I sent Guitarfeak (forum member who built the pedal for me) the info attached to the link I added. He did some research on his own and put everything together. I wouldn't doubt him having a schematic of what he did. He's made custom schematics for other builds as well. Shoot him a PM. Here's the link I used:

Re: I can't even...the end is near.

Buy it because you want it. Buy it because you have the money mr. blues lawyer. Buy it as an objet "d'art"

But don't tell me there isn't something for a tenth the price that does an indistinguishable job. Again - coming from a guy who owns a Diaz Tremodillo....

These are in the same category with what I refer to a R-tards. The guys who say the ONLY Gibson worth owning is an R7,8,9 etc...

I'm with Ary. In a blind test, I bet a properly set TS7 could fool a lot of people.

A tenth of the price of what, the $10,000 Klon? I'd say more like 1/200th - 1/50th of that price to do an indistinguishable job, depending on whether you are building it or buying it already built.

Re: I can't even...the end is near.

Apologies. Don't know current Klon prices. Don't care. You get my point...

Re: I can't even...the end is near.

These pedals are so silly. Just buy an amp that sounds good, dudes.

But the shipping with pedals is so much less, when you have to flip them constantly because you can’t find one that keeps you happy for more than a week. Imagine doing that with amps instead.

Current prices are something like $1500 - $3000, however, the one that was the topic of this thread was $10,000. That's what my percentage was based off of. But yeah, I got your point.

PSA ... the seller has reduced his price by 50%. It's a real steal now at $5000 !!!
