Because my new Splawn Competition arrives tomorrow! :banana:

It arrived in Portland today, and should arrive at my office sometime tomorrow. I'm feeling, a little, well like I might need to leave work early due to illness.

This will be my very first real toob amp. I am totally not worthy, hell I'm just a hack wannabe bedroom shredder with no musical prospects. But, at 40 years old I decided that... well, dammit I'm worth it. If a million kids can drive a Mesa, no reason an old dude can't be driving an 80s tone monster, eh?

So, if you don't see me around much, you know what happened to me. Don't send in the Marines unless it's JumpMarine.

Sheet, it's midnight and I can't sleep!

Just arrived, just opened it. It's friggin beautiful. There is a switch on the back which is foreign to me: Triode/Pentode. So, I email Scott Splawn about it (I'm a noobie remember), and he emails back within the hour - it's a, you guessed it, 1/2 power switch. I can go 50 to 25 watts without changing impedance. How friggin cool is that? So, all you dudes who shy away from the "Big" amps at home might give it some thought.

Can't wait to go home!

Great news. Tell us more about it. What pre/power tubes does it have? Is it a 2 channel?

3 - JJ 12ax7 (ECC83) preamp tubes, 2 - Mullard EL34 Power tubes.

It is single-channel,with 3 "gears" and solo boost. Should be a model of simplicity to use.

I know where you're coming from. My days of playing out are most likely over but a few years ago I bought an amp I love but dont "need". It makes me happy everytime I fire it up and I'm good with that.Mine was a Rivera yours is a Splawn.

Those are awsome amps, I know how much you've wanted and waited for that Splawn. Tear yourself away from if for a while and take some pics, then give us a tone report.
