I finally got a mixer...

Well, it's got 2 preamps, so I guess this falls under the amplifier category. I've been using a radio shack mixer since about '91, so I thought it was time to upgrade. I've searched for deals on Ebay over the past several weeks, but no dice. So, I went with Behringer's new Xenyx line (the 802). It's got "British" tone controls, which sounds appealing but might just be some hokey language for all I know. I'll let ya'll know how it does though.

linky says $59, but the repack was a few bucks less...

Re: I finally got a mixer...

I use the old brother of this one..the UB 802.

I put it between my soundcard and the pc speakers. It´s an ok thing..got to be careful not to turn the volume of the channel more than the half up because it produces hiss then.

If you´re interested in serious stuff I´d go with Soundcraft. They´ve got some good small mixers but they aren´t cheap..even the small Powerpad costs a lot..but Soundcraft is #1 in my book.

The Berhinger could work good but don´t turn the channel volume up more than the half and work with the "main mix" pot. If you use mics with XLR cables don´t be afraid to set the gain quite high instead of turning up the volume for the channel.

My mixer produces hiss then..dunno how the new one reacts. Looking foward to your results!

Thanks for the tips! Yeah, if it is noiser than my Radio Shack one, it's going straight to ebay. I can't see how it could be worse than my current setup, but who knows.
