BAM!

I think this one will suit me best in what I'm doing nowadays. Jazzy, bluesy music. The OD sound should be juicy and it's priced very reasonable. I'm quite sure this one will be my next amp, just have to find the right 2x12 speaker combination if I go for the head version, hehe. Loved the clips on the site and youtube. Also, the interior looks fab. I love clean wiring.

Sweet.

I had one of those bro. Great sound, very nice reverb. I prefer Budda Superdrives now because they have those Dr.Z sounds but have all the gain you could ever want.

Re: I found my dream amp [Dr.Z content]

Thanks for the input guys.

Heared that Robben Ford uses the z-best cabs..that's something \m/

I think I won't need a lot of gain and if yes, I got some pedals.

Re: I found my dream amp [Dr.Z content]

budda's....are too expensive

and Zs are just a bit out of my range but not too expensive...

Re: I found my dream amp [Dr.Z content]

Nice choice! :fing2: I love my MAZ 38. Mine has Celestion Alnico Blue speakers in it.

Your playing/style through a Z should be just about right. I look forward to that ...

wow.....just freakin wow dude. that's amazing....AMAZING. what a setup.

is that silverface the year where the circuitry was the same as BF...or has it been BF'd or is it silverface yet? eitherway - pretty much my dream rig

Re: I found my dream amp [Dr.Z content]

Thanks for the input!

I found a dutch dealer who has some Buddas in stock, I could get a Budda Superdrive 30 combo for some bucks less than the Dr. Z amp. If I go for the Dr. Z I'd take a 2x10 combo. I have to find a balance between tone and weight and what I read so far that a 2x10 will have a much better tone than 1x12, so that's what I consider.

The Budda Superdrive II 30w has 1x12 speakers and costs 1700€, the Dr. Z with 2x10 speaker costs 1949€...hm!

Wow I found a Budda Superdrive II 30w on "e.b.ay." for about 1100€, dang..perhaps I should go the used market but they will be harder to find.

Terrific amps, I love the finish on the Dr. Z :14:

What is the difference between the "MAZ 38 SR" and the "MAZ 38 SR NR"?

The Dluxe is a '77. It's pure silverface, but it's very close to a blackface. The smaller Fender amps didn't go through as many changes as the bigger amps did during the blackface to silverface conversion era. The very last Deluxe Reverbs (1978-1982) did go through some changes. A "Boost" pull switch was added to the Volume control around late '77. A Line Out jack added to back panel around `79. Deluxe Reverbs produced between late 1980 and 1982 have a black control panel and silver sparkle grille cloth.

My setup also includes a fourth amp that isn't in that picture. It's a '64 Ampeg R-12 R Reverberocket.

Re: I found my dream amp [Dr.Z content]

I'd think the Dr.Z would be more your sound. In my experience, Budda is crispier and more direct, while Dr. Z has that spongy, thick juicy thing going on.

You know, I would have thought you would be more interested in the Route 66(or it's little brother, the Z-28). Don't know why, just thought it sounded a bit like you.

Re: I found my dream amp [Dr.Z content]

Yeah, I was thinking the Rt 66. It's definitely my favorite Dr. Z. The higher the volume, the more natural it's gain sounds.

Most of the other Dr. Z's with EL-84's break up a bit too much, and some of their models almost sound ratty to my ears. That's after going from one to the next in a tone test.

I remember Mike Fuller from Fulltone being quoted as saying "the Rt 66 is the best sounding amp I've ever heard, made after 1973."

Re: I found my dream amp [Dr.Z content]

Dudes!

I think you are right. I didn't consider the 66 because I'm new to the Dr. Z amp world but after hearing the clips, you know me better than I do LOL. Seriously, I think the 66 will fit the bill even better.

Re: I found my dream amp [Dr.Z content]

And they are soft....and soft....sings...and likes pedals too:D
Pair it up with its 2x12 G12H equipped cab...one supersweet setup...
Do not get why they are not raved over in spades???
I am getting myself one of these...covers my needs to the letter of Q...
And a Engl Classic 50 head with a 4x10 cab....
Then I have all I need.
:D

Who am I kidding??
Hehe

Re: I found my dream amp [Dr.Z content]

It's also a good price around 1100€ including a cab with good speakers...yeah, I'm all for british sounds EL84..class A, some AC-30 vibe..I need that.

Yeah, those Laney's look very promising. I need to check one of those out. Sam Ash is a Laney dealer, so maybe I'll see one over there.
