Congrats on the new guitar Jeff. I almost bought a Jimmy Page Reliced Edwards, but someone out in a stupidly high bid and sniped me. I ended up getting a Heritage H150CM.
I had a Hamer Monaco Elite that was a very nice guitar, pickups were way to hot though. Still have an 1989 LP with a PG in the bridge and an Alnico Pro in the neck. The LP had more resonance in the neck on low notes than my Heritage, but the H150 has better tone, better sustain and it has been Plek'd and has the Buzz Feiten tuning system.
The Heritage has had the stock Schallers, a pair of Manilius pickups, also swapped in the PG and APH. I just slid in a pair of the VPAF's and went back to the stock Schallers. They just sound great in this guitar; pickups and guitar just were made for each other. The Manlius pickups are now in a 335.
The Heritage has binding over the fret ends, a great top with lots of character, weighs 9 lbs and has the best neck I have ever played. It is a little thicker than a LP Classic neck, but is more of a "D" carve and flat on the back of the neck. Reminds me of the necks used on real 1960 Bursts, not the RIs. It is a better guitar than my LP. Was special ordered with a long neck tenon; I did not order it is a 1997.
Enjoy your Edwards and if the pick above is your guitar it is a good looker. As for pickups in clone LP. Order a set of Manlius pickups. The ones in my semi-hollow were special ordered with mismatched coils, Alnico 4 mags for the bridge and Alnico 3 in the neck. The neck always sounded woofy, I wanted it to be woody and cello/violin like. Nicely built pickups, still adjusting the pups and I think I am getting close to that sound.
Cheers,
